Curated by Tuba Kocakaya, the exhibition 'You are another me' sheds light on the contemporary.
Recognizing that gender is an ideological construct, the exhibition focuses on the endless possibilities that bodies can experience. While emphasizing the idea that every body is not a limited part of these possibilities, but the whole; it opposes stereotyped and assigned forms of gender by hosting thousands of forms of difference and diversity. It aims to break the norm/marginal dichotomy by bringing together works that adopt marginality instead of marginalization.
Welcoming its visitors with its 'colours' with its performance, our beloved Akış Ka greets us with a very powerful show. We, the audience, witness this performance with the only 'proud' as Akış Ka performs with a bony demeanor by combining her loving side in her heart with her bodily strength in her mind.
Akış Ka's performance called 'welcome', her whole body is covered with make-up. In her performance along the wall, she collides with the wall and leaves marks on the wall with paints. Depicting the struggle to 'exist here', Akış Ka best expresses her battle in her 'self'.
The exhibition "You are Another Me", which also includes Cansu Yıldıran, İlkin Zeybek, Leman Sevda Darıcıoğlu, Meltem Sarıkaya, Mert Yemenicioğlu, can be visited at Koli Art Space between 17 June - 16 July 2023. During this time; An art experience awaits you where you can think from different perspectives, focus on the diversity of gender and body, adhere to the principle of equality, and embrace the 'fair' language jointly.
