'This is a Love Story' held at the Community Hub in Asmalı; An unconventional, interactive performance driven by collective thought.
In 'This is a Love Story', which comes from the pairing of wine and monologue; As participants, we experience different wines accompanied by the monologues of a single actor and also watch a love story. Each wine represents a specific stage of the love story told by the actor.
The performance begins with a wine explanation by Zeliha Kaya, the producer and coordinator of the project. After the narration, we are introduced to the character Üzüm, played by actress Melis Öz, and the stories of grapes. The love story we hear from the character Üzüm is one of the most enjoyable examples of creative drama. In the play, the character Üzüm portrays in an ordinary language how the dynamics of love are shaped and deepened, with her gestures, facial expressions, tone of her voice, and her sometimes high and sometimes naive steps. While Üzüm enthusiastically tells her story among the participants, the participants can also participate in this narrative, and in this context, an unfiltered language is formed between the narrator and the participants. In the face of this interactive performance, we get the impression that we are listening to the love story of a close friend with excitement and excitement.
In the game, listening to and watching many different emotions that we experience from time to time, such as happiness, peace, excitement, passion, tension, stress, anxiety, loyalty and empathy, from a second perspective, serves the person to travel to his own private memories. Actress Melis Öz, who plays Grape, Tanen and the narrator, pairs her love for Tanen with wine, leaving the bond established between tasting and play to our own interpretation with our subjective judgments. Accompanied by a crowded table, we judge the similarities or differences between Üzüm's story and our own stories and let ourselves go with the flow.
In this event, which is exhibited among the old architectural structures of Asmalı Mescit, the relationship of the story with the place is quite high. It is very possible to establish an emotional connection with the architectural identity of the building. White rooms between the stone walls were connected with arches, creating a long narrow space. This communication pool, positioning, game, narrative and tasting are the fruit of a multidisciplinary meeting. While wine tasting provides a sensory journey of discovery, theater offers emotional richness and intellectual breadth.
By participating in this story, we witnessed the power of one-man performance and saw his ability to analyze characters and make comments. In addition, we gained experience on how short-term acquaintances can create deep bonds. As YUGA, we support the Collective mindset and all actions related to this mindset. We congratulate dear Zeliha Kaya, the project producer and coordinator of This is a Love Story, Başak Kıvılcım Ertanoğlu, who wrote and directed it, Melis Öz, who played the character of Üzüm, and everyone who contributed to the project.
